This is the spot where there was a short lookout tower that was in use in 1999 (possibly earlier) while Spring Butte Lookout was under construction. At least part of the 2000 fire season, the Spring Butte tower was in use by lookouts employed by the USFS.
As with other caches that I have hidden on or about May 3, I have included Geo in the name.
Turn north on the 500 road off FS 2430 It is the 550 road that winds its way up to the top of Green Butte. You can drive to within 50 yards of the cache if you do not mind the Oregon pinstriping that comes from driving a narrow road with Manzanita on both sides. Cache elevation is 5760' above sea level
