THE RIDDLE
Of these, I am all three: silver, paper, and canoe.
When you see me I'll be going in four directions at once.
A stranger here alone, I was chosen to keep this
vigil.
THE REVENGE
This is now an “offset type” cache hunt where the posted
coordinates lead to an intermediate location containing an
encrypted vector to the main cache. (01/28/02)
Finding the directions and the cache should be fairly easy.
Getting there is the harder part. It's a moderate uphill trek much
of the way. If you like a nice workout, this is a great hunt for
you! The woods are extremely lovely (see pics) and there is plenty
of animal life. I saw two wild turkeys and plenty of squirrels
while placing the cache.
This hike is about 2 miles round trip. It is mildy strenuous.
You will experience an elevation gain of about 350 feet in
2/3-mile, and there are some switchbacks which help ease the climb.
In very warm weather be sure to bring water to drink. Some trail
sections will be mucky after rain. Park at N41° 33.280' W075°
42.331'. Follow the marked trails in a counter-clockwise direction
to the cache site for an easier climb.
Find the object in the riddle of this adventure and then follow
the directions to the stash. It's really that simple. The first
part is found at the original location, not far off a main trail.
The container itself is hidden from general view.
THE TREASURE
The stash is in a clear 14½-cup Rubbermaid-style container
approximately 11½"x7½"x2½" with a snap-on lid. (The photo above
shows recent contents.) Please register the time and date of your
visit in the logbook, and record your experiences, comments,
suggestions or complaints. Take something from the cache and leave
an appropriate item in its place. Be considerate.
Cautionary Note: The cache is located very
close to a trail which can be rather busy during the Summer months
and the Fall hunting season. Please use discretion and a little
stealth when examining the cache site so as to avoid attracting
undue attention and potentially malicious curiosity. Return the
stash as best as you can to its hiding place as you found it.
Kindly pack out any trash, and most of all ... please be
considerate.
Winter Cachers: Please try to erase, camouflage or otherwise
confuse your tracks in the snow in order to maintain some level of
difficulty for future Geocachers.
A refreshing post-Geocaching treat: At the end of this
little adventure you can reward yourself with freshly-made ice
cream from Manning's Farm Dairy located at N41° 33.961' W075°
39.843. :-)
Now that you've endured this long-winded cache report, let's see
how good your physical endurance is. Good luck and good hunting,
fellow GeoCachers!!!
THE END!
