Waterloo missed becoming the county seat of Fayette County by one single vote!
The town probably contained about 100 people in 1883 when a terrible storm hit the town, damaging or destroying every building except 3.
Today, Waterloo definitely earns its name as it sits very close to the Whitewater River, which is said to be the swiftest in the state. Waterlevels can rise and fall very quickly with spring and summer rain storms.
Note: The low-lying area west of this location can flood very quickly. Please do not drive through flood water. If water rises above the road, the county will close the road. In this case, you can reach this cache from the north or south.
