Teddy-Bear Picnic
Where –Balmedie Country Park, Balmedie, Aberdeen AB23 8XG
When – Thursday 8th August 2-4pm

If you go down to the beach today, you’re in for a big surprise! No, not sunshine – we are in Scotland after all!
Bears! Bears in all shapes and sizes, along with their responsible humans, are invited to head north of Aberdeen to discover more than 10 miles of beach and sand-dunes stretching along the North Sea.
During the Second World War, Balmedie beach was where defused and unexploded bombs from air raids in Aberdeen were brought, to be cleaned of explosives or detonated on the foreshore. Three pillboxes were built on the dunes to protect a small radar station and the remains of these, along with anti-tank blocks can still be found in the dunes today.
The large area covered by the Country Park here gives us plenty of opportunity to play games, eat picnics and, of course, decide the best dressed Teddy award.
