Geocache Description:

Dr. Francis Tumblety was not only known as a medical quack but also as a self-proclaimed "hater of women", having his heart crushed, he said, when he found that his wife's character "was of the worst". His travels abroad, coupled with his antipathy toward woman and his habit of collecting anatomical specimens, led the London police to suspect him as being the serial killer known as Jack the Ripper. This, however, was never proven.

Tumblety's death occurred in St. Louis, MO, on May 28, 1903. He lived the declining years of his life as a poor man, so it came as a shock when his will spoke of a large sum of money, which was left in the hands of NYC bankers, Henry Clews and Co. Some of that money was designated to family members and former associates, and the remaining amount was fought over in the courts for years to come.

A descendant of one of Tumblety's heirs recently discovered a forgotten box, tucked away long ago in her uncle's attic, which contained a few notes written by the Ripper suspect himself. The writings spoke of an even larger sum of money, secreted away years before his death. Accompanying the notes was a set of cryptic directions, no doubt leading to what is now known as "The Ripper's Treasure"...
