Geocache Description:

Richland Luthern Cemetery

Another Quite Rural Cemetery just North of the Cerro Gordo County Line.  As a matter of fact, it is just North of Cerro Gordo Street which is the fartherst South east-west street in Cerro Gordo County.  At this point you just can't go much further South and still be in Cerro Gordo County.

This cemetery can not be very old, perhaps the early 1880's as I did see a few stones going back to that time.  But there are new stones as well which means that this is an active cemetery where you may encounter a burial going on when you are here.  If there should be a burial in progress it may be best if you came back another time.  Always be respectful of your surroundings and never cache at night.

When I roam the cemetery looking at the stones I often wonder about how that particular person lived, what kind of a job that they may have had, and sometimes especially when I see a stone of a young child wonder what was the cause of their death.

This is one such stone that makes me wonder and makes me sad as well.

But now, lets find that cache.  There are three stops to make for you to gather information in order to figure out the final.  The first stop is outside the cemetery, the other two inside.

The final coordinates are:

N 42 54.ABC

W 93 22.DEF

The posted coordinates take you to the first stage where you are looking for a four digit number with a hyphen between the 2nd & 3rd number.  A = the 3rd number

Also at the first stage you are looking for a sign.  After DC there are five numbers.  B = the sum of the first three numbers.  Now go to stage two.

At stage two you are looking for two different dates.  One is located higher than the other one. Take the 3rd digit of the number located toward the bottom of the marker and subtract from that the 3rd digit of the number located toward the top of the marker.   That equals C.

To find D, using these same eight numbers take the second number from the number located toward the top of the marker and subtract the second number from the numbers located toward the bottom of the markers and then add the first number from the top set of numbers.   We will next go to stage three.

Stage Three brings you to a gravestone. You should see the name Marion.  Marion is a veteran.

The third number of the birth year =E

If Marion is a veteran of WWI  F = 5

If Marion is a veteran of WWII F = 4

If Marion is a veteran of Korea F = 3

If Marion is a veteran of Vietnam F = 2

You now have all the information you need to locate the final.
