There were several toll houses in the county where a fee was collected to use the road. The families who lived on the property the roads ran through were responsible for collecting the tolls. These fees would have been used to maintain the road in the area, similar to the modern toll roads of today.
The toll house is located just northwest of the cache location. The owners have asked that you please stay as close to the road as possible and admire the toll house from afar.
