Geocache Description:

The cache offers some spectacular scenery within easy access of Muckross House.

In the vicinity of the the cache location are direct views of Torc Mountain across the lake. The little island is known as Devil's Island. Apparently it was scooped up from the top of Mangerton and hurled at a local chieftain by the Devil himself, leaving behind the Devil's Punchbowl.

A suggested route is to follow the path towards Dinis Cottage, passing Arthur Vincent House, and then turning off at marker #5/#20 (see waypoints) after Coill Reenadinna info board. The terrain is quite uneven from here. Buggies and babies would need to be carried in parts unless they are of the industrial variety (the buggies that is).

Following a looped route will bring you back to the front of Muckross House again. Suggested route described above is around 3km - make sure to allow time to stop and admire the view!

As can be seen from the map (see images), there are plenty of ways of getting there and back again, much like our friend Bilbo did.

Cache is located a few metres off the path on broken ground.
