WWFM XVI - Piece out at The Ponds!

History of the WWFM
Back in May 2007, in a time before Sean and Shoes Junior, Team Podcacher held the first World Wide Flash Mob, when a brief geocaching event was held simultaneously at 20 different sites around the world. At the event's peak in 2014, more than 27,000 geocachers attended one of almost 800 events. As a result of changes to Geocaching HQ's guidelines for events, these brief events now run for a minimum of 30 minutes.
What we'll be doing
At WWFM XVI - Piece Out, we'll be donning our hi-vis vests and assembling 81 pieces of mega-sized jigsaw puzzles. BYO hi-vis vest, but if you don't have one we'll have some to hand out. The WWFM XVI is scheduled for 10am PDT on Saturday 22nd June, which for Sydney would be 3am Sunday 23rd June. However, we've got permission to run it at a time when the muggles aren't all asleep - 10am on Saturday 22nd June (Sydney time).
Timeline for this event
10am - Gather in the vicinity of the posted co-ordinates. Try and behave like muggles.
10:05am - Sensible Shoes will move into position at WP1, near the "X" and "O" sculptures, and blow a whistle to show that it's time to come together. Put on your hi-vis vest, and come and join us, where we will work in teams to assemble the puzzle(s).
10:20am - Another whistle will blow, at which time you should make your way to GZ to sign the log, have a group photo taken, and we'll draw the FTF and lucky door prizes. Once tbis is done, it is time to take off your hi vis vest.
10:30am - End of the event, however stay as long you want to catch up with your fellow geocachers. You must be present during the 30 minutes to claim the event.
If everything goes as planned, we will have had people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 30 minutes, holding a geocaching event and then disappearing. For the Flash Mob to have its full effect, it must appear to come from nowhere and disappear just as quickly.
In the event of wet weather, the event will be held in the picnic shed at GZ. If the weather is particularly severe, an announcement will be posted on this page with details of what will happen.
