The original Wakefield Covered Bridge was built in 1915 and was one of the first bridges to link the east/west shores of the Gatineau River. It burnt in 1984, the residents of Wakefield joined together and rebuilt the pedestrian Gendron Covered Bridge on the original pillars. It is now part of the “The Great Trail” and a section of the “Sentiers Wakefield Trails”. To visit, park at the Fairbairn House and enjoy the short walk to the bridge. On a nice day go for a swim but jumping off the bridge will get you in trouble, and if you are feeling romantic, book a date and get married on the Wakefield Covered Bridge. OK, for now, look for the cache, log it, take a pic, post it on Facebook and take a hike! The cache is NOT near the speaker system!

Le pont couvert original de Wakefield a été construit en 1915 et fut l’un des premiers ponts à relier les rives est/ouest de la rivière Gatineau. Il a brûlé en 1984, les habitants de Wakefield ont uni leurs efforts pour reconstruire le pont couvert piétonnier Gendron sur les piliers d’origine. Il fait maintenant partie du «Grand sentier» et d’une partie des "Sentiers Wakefield Trails". Pour visiter, se garer à la maison Fairbairn et profiter de la courte promenade du pont. Par beau temps, allez vous baigner, mais sauter du pont vous causera des problèmes.Pour l'instant, cherchez le cache, connectez-le, prenez une photo, postez-le sur Facebook et partez en randonnée!
