Geocache Description:

When you first open the cache you will see the box pictured above. By the time you take it out of the cache the little box should be on and you'll see some text on screen. The data on the screen all represent elevation. The elevation in this device is calculated based on barometric pressure and since barometric pressure changes every day its not possible for this device to display exact altitude. Even though the altitude is not spot on the relative altitude is right. That is to say if the device displays current altitude to be 400 ft and you move it up 25ft it will show 425ft. The difference from one point to another point is correct.

On the top of the device are two buttons. The long black one is a door switch that starts the device when the cache is opened and turns it off again when the device is placed back in the cache and the door is closed. This button may be pressed at any time to restart the device at any time. Be very careful of this button because if you accidentally bump it the device will restart setting your current elevation as the base. The little red push switch turns on a back light in the lcd in case its a dark day and you need it.

The information displayed on screen is:
1st line - Elevation where you turned the unit on (called Base) and what everything is based on.

2nd line - Your current elevation and you can see that change as you gain or loose elevation.

3rd line - This is the maximum elevation the unit has been to since you turned it on.

4th line - This is the minimum elevation the unit has been to since you turned it on.

Your goal is to take this unit to a point where it either gains 75ft or looses 75ft relative to Base. Once the 75ft mark is reached the combination to the locked compartment will be shown to you on screen. Write it down because while it stays on screen a long time it may not stay on screen long enough for you to walk back to the cache and unlock the lock.

Caution!
This little device has delicate electronics inside so do not throw it up in the air. You can't throw it up far enough anyhow and if you do it will auto shut off. Inside is an accelerometer that works much like the airbag sensor in your car. Any sudden acceleration from throwing it or sudden stops from catching it or it hitting the ground will auto shut it off. If it still works at that time you'll need to start all over again.

Hint: there is a permanent and stationary tool on top of the hill that will help.
