Geocache Description:

This Cache is placed as part of the 2019 Taconic Region Geocache Challenge. The NYS Parks Saratoga - Capital region and the Central region will be hosting a similar challenge. Find 45 challenge caches in the Taconic Region and stamp your passport to earn a trackable geo-coin. Ten caches found in the Sara-Cap and/or Central Region Challenges can be used toward the Taconic Challenge.

This cache will bring you to one of the oldest private homes in New York State. Sections of Philipse Manor Hall were erected in 1682 by Frederick Philipse, a Dutch immigrant who became the wealthiest man in colonial New York. Today, Philipse Manor Hall serves as a museum of history, art and architecture, as well as host to community organizations, meetings, educational programs and special events. Highlights of the Hall include its 18th century, high style Georgian architecture, a 1750s papier mache Rococo ceiling, and an impressive collection of presidential portraits, including the six Presidents from New York State.

Coordinates are from 200 averaged readings, but the satellites do not have a 360-degree clear view of the location, so numbers might be a bit fuzzy on the day you visit. Don’t be too proud to use the hint; that’s what it’s there for.

It is likely that you will be looking for this cache in full view of muggles, so be wary.

As always, please conceal the cache at least as well as you find it. And please do not remove the challenge stamp from the cache! It is not swag.
