[LT] Kauno marios – didžiausias dirbtinis vandens telkinys Lietuvoje, Nemuno slėnyje, aukščiau Kauno hidroelektrinės užtvankos, 223,4 km nuo Nemuno žiočių. Marios ir jų pakrantės priklauso Kauno marių regioniniam parkui, aukštupys – Nemuno kilpų regioniniam parkui.[1]
Marių plotas – 63,5 km⊃2;, ilgis – 80 km, bendras pakrančių ilgis – 200 km, didžiausias gylis – 24,6 m. Tvenkinyje sukaupta apie 460 mln. m⊃3; vandens. Plačiausioje vietoje Kauno marios yra 3,3 km pločio, siauriausioje – 0,3 km. Vandens lygis vasarą svyruoja 1,5 m, prieš pavasario potvynį pažeminamas ~4 m.[1]
Žemutinėje marių dalyje (~25 km, tarp užtvankos ir Strėvos žiočių) vanduo užliejęs visą Nemuno slėnį. Čia Kauno marios plačiausios ir giliausios. Krantai labai vingiuoti, ypač žemutinėje dalyje. Vidutinėje atkarpoje (~22 km, tarp Strėvos žiočių ir Darsūniškio) užlieta tik dalis slėnio; marių plotis 500–800 m, gylis 10–12 m. Aukštutinėje atkarpoje Nemunas teka savo vaga; plotis 200–300 m, gylis 4–5 m.[1]
5 salos: dvi Dabintos (39,2 ir 2,1 ha), dvi Paukščių (4,6 ir 4,5 ha) ir sala ties Arlaviškėmis. Į Kauno marias įteka: iš dešinės – Verknė, Sobuva, Astraga, Lapainia, Strėva, Praviena, Karčiupis, Kruna; iš kairės – Šventupė, Žaisa.[1]

Kaunas Lagoon is the largest artificial water body in Lithuania, in the Nemunas valley, above the dam of Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant, 223.4 km from the mouth of the Nemunas. Marios and their coasts belong to Kaunas lagoon regional park, upstream - to the Nemunas loops regional park [1]. Mari area is 63.5 km⊃2;, length is 80 km, total length of coast is 200 km, the maximum depth is 24.6 m. About 460 mln. m⊃3; of water. The widest point of Kaunas Lagoon is 3.3 km wide, the narrowest - 0.3 km. The water level in the summer ranges from 1.5 m to ~ 4 m before the spring flood. [1] In the lower part of the lagoon (~ 25 km, between the dam and the Strėva mouth) the water flooded the entire Nemunas valley. Here the Kaunas Lagoon is the widest and deepest. The coasts are very winding, especially in the lower part. In the middle section (~ 22 km, between Strėva mouth and Darsūniškis) only part of the valley was flooded; Lagoon width 500–800 m, depth 10–12 m.
