Geocache Description:

---This cache is part of the Fayette County Bicentennial GeoTour---

This recently created rails-to-trails project, called the Nickel Plate Trail originally used to be a spur of the nation-wide Nickel Plate Railroad. This was the furthest south in Indiana that the track went. Originally, the tracks came down from New Castle, Indiana, went down the middle of Park Road, and then connected to the B&O Railroad (now CSX). If you travel to the old B&O station by the grain elevators, you can still see the tracks that were part of the Nickel Plate curving off to the side of the station.

Plan on spending 30-45 minutes at this location.  The trail is 0.75 miles long.
