Geocache Description:

---This cache is part of the Fayette County Bicentennial GeoTour---

In about 1829, a schoolhouse was built at this location. This one, however, comes with a tragic story.  Samuel Powell was a teacher there when he was accidentally killed on Christmas Day, 1891.

Today, the old schoolhouse has been transformed into a house.  The west half of the house (behind the enclosed porch) is what remains.  The owner said it still has it's original walls and beams, which can be visible in the basement.
