READ THE DETAILS BELOW BEFORE ATTEMPTING
This Wherigo explores historical plaques and sculptures along the waterfront and in the city itself.
There are in excess of 40 locations to visit before reaching the final location.
Estimated walking distance approximately 8km
Regular saving of your progress is recommended.
Some of these are very close to each other, others well apart and require a fair walk to access.
Directions given at each zone will point you in the right direction.
Allow about FOUR+ hours depending on how quickly you access each zone and whether or not you detour for coffee or food. ( Remember there are 40 + zones to visit)
A map of wellington may assist in your quest or you may prefer just to navigate using your app.
There are 8 zones that require noting a number which will be needed to calculate the GZ final at the last zone.
Make sure you record these values.
Two are single digits but the other six are 2 or 3 digit values
At the final zone there are several extra questions to answer that will give you all the detail you need to locate the geocache container including a spoiler photo.
Most of the parking in Wellington has a two hour time limit. I have suggested a parking spot which has the longest meter controlled parks that I am aware of although there may be others.
Oriental Bay could be accessed from the parking by taking a bus to Courtney Place and walking to the first zone.
GZ is also reasonably close to the railway station so where you park mayl be influenced by this.
Wellington’s parking limits and costs and considering the time required to complete this whereigo need to be taken into account. Parking also costs in the city at weekends.
The cartridge for this geocache can be downloaded from the Wherigo site
here.
To test this I used my Android phone and the "WhereYouGo" app.
Please contact me if you encounter any glitches although my walkthrough with an independent checker worked fine despite their phone’s gps deciding to go awol from time to time.
