5 Mile Dragway Traditional Cache

Back in the heyday of the musclecar this if the place we used to settle who has the fastest car.  On Saturday nights from the 60s to the 80s racers would gather here for a little street racing.  Everyone crusing Holbrook would clear out at 10:30pm and head for the "5 mile".  Here you would see anything from mom's stationwagon, to many hot street cars (Camaros, Mustangs and Novas, early Chevys, Fords, Dodges,or anything you thought was hot)  out to do battle.  Ocassionally a gasser or altered with a grudge or even a rail out to test a little.  The location was great , you could see anyone (police cars) coming from town 5 miles away or 5 miles from the east, giving plenty of time to clear the road (We were watching for UFOs) and there was very little traffic.  In a small town you had to find your own fun, and Holbrook being on Rte 66 it usually involved cars.
