On the way to the iconic Of Diamonds And Pearls cache we discovered this “cave” which deserved a cache because it is so awesome.
It is technically not a “cave” but rather a shelter created by two huge rocks leaning on each other. Because of their magnitude it feels like a cave when you are inside.
GZ is a short walk from the nearby parking area and the cache should be quite easy to find
PLEASE NOTE the following Rules of Paarl Mountain nature reserve:
1. No fires
2. No dogs or horses in reserve & camps
3. No fire arms
4. No swimming in dams, streams or ponds
5. No floating devices in or on water
6. No “off-road” motorbikes, scramblers or quad bikes
7. No busses larger than 22 seater
8. No overnighting or camping (tents / caravans)
9. No music, noise or musical instruments in camps
10. No littering
11. No disturbance, picking or possession of flora (plants)
12. No disturbance, hunting or possession of fauna (animals)
13. No dumping
14. No vandalism of municipal property
15. No unauthorized entry
Entry fees (applicable 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019)
Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve is open throughout the year, including weekends and all public holidays. Entry is R58.00 per vehicle plus R19.00 per occupant, which can be bought at the reserve main gate. Entry is free during the week.
Open hours:
Summer: 07h00-19h00 (1 Oct – 31 March)
Winter: 07h00-18h00 (1 April – 30 Sept)
Note: No entry is allowed 1 hour before closure times.
