This cache is a small lock-n-lock hidden near, but not at, a signboard dedicated to Martin Huge Maguire, a young man who passed early in life but who was an avid ornithologist, conservationist, and outdoorsman. When he passed, he was Assistant to the Director of Natural Resource Protection within the New York Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. The cache coordinates will take you to the signboard, from which you will need to obtain information and then do a little math that will provide you the coordinates of the actual cache which is located at N 41 27.ABC and W 73 49.DEF. The numbers ABC and DEF can be obtained from the information on the signboard as described below.
The signboard is at the periphery of the campground and a short way down the white-marked Roaring Brook (RB) trail which can be reached by car or by hiking around Pelton Pond. The parking coordinates are for the Pelton Pond parking lot. The trailhead coordinates are for the start of the RB trail at the edge of the campground. You may find a Fahnestock trail map at https://parks.ny.gov/parks/attachments/ClarenceFahnestockTrailMap.pdf
