Cathedral Church of Our Lady and St. Philip Howard
Situated in a prominent position, the cathedral overlooks the ancient town of Arundel on the west bank of the river Arun, where the valley opens out into the coastal plain.
The cathedral, which is the seat of the Bishopric of Arundel and Brighton, was founded by Henry 15th Duke of Norfolk and the architect was Joseph Hansom (also known as the inventor of the Hansom cab). The building was completed in 1873 and has many Gothic features including the vaulted ceiling and typical ornate crenellations on the roof.

Originally the church was dedicated to the sixteenth century Italian priest, St Philip Neri but in 1973 the dedication was changed to ‘Our Lady and St. Philip Howard’.
The Cache
Visit the following locations to answer the questions and obtain the co-ordinates of the cache. Once inside the cathedral, GPS co-ords would be pretty useless, so instructions are given (in conjunction with the following diagram) to get you from place to place. You will make a circuit of the interior in a clockwise direction starting by turning left as you enter.

Please remember that this is a centre for spiritual reflection and prayer so try to be respectful of your surroundings.
As you enter through the North door, turn left and look up at the wall. Here you will see some of the 14 traditional Stations of the Cross (a feature of all Catholic churches) which are here depicted in a series of stone friezes. What is the number of the first frieze nearest the door you have just come in. This is A.
Continue in an easterly direction to the last of the stone friezes on this wall. What is the number of the last frieze on this wall? This is B.
Passing the shrine to Saint Philip Howard,

the St Wilfrid Altar (which also contains a war memorial) and the Chapel of Our Lady,

you will come to the main altar at the eastern end of the Cathedral.

To the LEFT side of the altar, is a moulded and painted design set in to the stonework. If it is...
*A depiction of Christ on the cross, then C is 1
*An insignia showing two crossed keys and a bishop's mitre (hat), then C is 3
*A depiction of the Virgin Mary holding a child, then C is 5
*A coat of arms with a shield shape and a crown on the top, then C is 7
To the RIGHT side of the altar, is a moulded and painted design set in to the stonework. If it is...
*A depiction of Christ on the cross, then D is 2
*An insignia showing two crossed keys and a bishop's mitre (hat), then D is 4
*A depiction of the Virgin Mary holding a child, then D is 6
*A coat of arms with a shield shape and a crown on the top, then D is 8
While you're standing here, take a moment to turn around and take a look at the marvellous organ, situated high up, at the western end of the building.

Continue the circuit past the Blessed Sacrament Chapel

the statue of St Phiip Neri

and along the southern wall, where you may notice a number of wooden doors recessed in to this wall, some of which lead to confessional booths. Looking up, you will see more of the friezes depicting the Stations of the Cross. What is the LAST numbered frieze along this wall (that you come to)? This is E.
In the South-West corner is a free-standing stone font. How many sides does this have? This is F.

Getting here
For cachers using public transport, various bus services from Compass Travel and Stagecoach visit the town. The Compass 69 service stops outside the adjacent pub. Arundel railway station is about 500 metres outside the town.
There is free, unrestricted, on-street parking within the vicinity of the Cathedral, heading North on London Road however, these spaces are often taken on busy, sunny, weekends by the many tourists who visit here. There are also 3 pay-and-display car parks within the town, 2 of which are council owned. More details here.
Collecting the answers, walking to GZ and finding the cache is likely to take an average cacher a bit less than approx 30 mins (hence the 2-star rating). This will take longer if you have to wait for a service to finish, or if you want to take your time touring the cathedral. This does not include walking to and from a car park.
