...Can't think of a better place for this cache as the area has opened back up since the sewage plan construction is finished.......This is one of those caches that you want to hide better than you found it...........Will be a quick find as you start your quest on the trail.... .The West Penn Trail is a rails-to-trails conversion which mostly follows the Conemaugh River. It was an active railroad line until the 1970s when the Penn-Central Railway Co. abandoned it. You'll pick up the trail in Saltsburg, making your way east. One of the first things you'll learn is that the old canal paralleled the railroad and river. You'll see plenty of sites relating to the old canal including lock sites, tunnel sites, and culverts scattered along the 17 mile total length of the trail ......Follow beyond this section thru the GameLands,Conemaugh Dam Recreation Area and on to the Stone Arch Bridges of the Conemaugh River Lake.........This section is about 3 1/2 miles ....Beautiful sections of cut stone walls.....Nice leasurely bike ride or walk as you cache this section...All caches are on or fairly close to trail.....B.Y.O.P......Bring the kids.....Have a fun time...Just a reminder wear your orange during hunting season......Parking coords are posted for the trail at the end of Salt St.,Saltsburg

........West Penn Trail is open to the public daily from dawn to dusk.....Plan your ride or walk to allow enough time to return to your vehicle before dusk............Have Fun.....
