The Compass Hill walk is an elevated loop walk out of Kinsale. The walk takes around 30 mins and has many viewpoints along the way. I would highly recommend walking the loop as you would get a much better experience than driving. You can start the loop walk from either the top end of Winters Hill (Convent garden) or from the top of St Johns hill (next to the town hall). But if you’re walking up out of town the only way to the Cache is to go around the loop.
On Compass Hill you will see an area and views that many visitors to Kinsale miss such as Charles Fort, James Fort, Kinsale town, the new bridge and the Bandon river to name but a few.
If you do decided to drive directly to the Cache, there are pull ins and wide gate entrances close to the coordinates
