Prospect Park is located just north of the center of the Town of Shrewsbury (where Main St crosses Route 140). Parking is available at the entrance to the park off of Prospect St. The park is mostly wooded with well maintained trails. Near the top of the only hill are the ruins of a mansion and formal gardens. The ruins are from a large estate that was built by a wealthy mill owner in 1912. The building was first used as a private residence and then in 1927 as a hospital before being torn down by the town in 1979. While the building is no longer present, Stone walls and steps as well as a Greek style pergola are still visible. This link contains history and pictures of the former mansion http://www.prospectfriends.org/History.html. It is an easy hike and the park is dog friendly. The cache is a Medium sized ammo box hidden just off the trail. There are a many small items in the cache to trade. Please indicate where you are from (City, State, Country) either in the logbook or preferably on the web site.
