MMC - Just One More Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Adelyse: I was in Lake Country today and stopped to pick this one up before the snow flies. I have decided to give this memorial box that I made to Mudrock's daughter and granddaughters. It will have a home in their garden. Fly high, Ian. You are missed so much. I hope you are geocaching in the skies with Lacey and Deefer ❤️

Geocache Description:

When I started playing this silly "hunting for tupperware in the woods" game, I never would have thought that it would result in my making some lasting and forever connections with some people I have come to hold very dearly in my heart. Mudrock1 is one of those people and connections. Ian's joy for life was contagious. It was near impossible to not get excited about whatever he was passionate about and that's what this geocache is; an ode to all things Ian and all the things that remind me of him. When you find this geocache, I invite you to spend some time looking inside the host/shelter to see the tributes to the things that made Ian tick. Each image spurs a memory for me, and I invite you to share your memories of him in your found logs as well. A favourite adventure, a silly quote, a random memory; anything you'd like to share. When I think of Ian and geocaching, the first thing to come to mind is "just one more!" It was Ian's motto when out for a day of caching, often to the disdain of his wife, DaisyDolittle. (Who needs dinner anyways, right Michelle?) When he would miss his agreed upon return time, Michelle wouldn't be worried. After all, Ian had likely just decided to stop for one (or two, or three...) more. Well Ian, here's to you. Just one more. Cheers buddy. I will love and miss you always and I am forever grateful that I was lucky enough to meet you and for all the wonderful things you did for me. And of course, for bringing your wonderful wife into my life. Rest easy, my friend. <3

In Memory of Mudrock1 (Ian Hewitt)

Among other things, Ian was an avid geocacher. He started caching in 2005, and was a well-respected and liked fixture in the Okanagan geocaching community. At any event or gathering, he was easy to spot in shorts and crocs, pushing it until the snow flew, and sometimes even beyond. He was always available to ask for assistance with hiding, finding, and logging. He gave generously of his time to newbies and experienced cachers alike, instituting the Timmie's monthly winter get-togethers to keep cachers from going stir-crazy waiting for warmer weather. He was always ready for an adventure, a hike or paddle to some distant cache, or a dash out for a First To Find (FTF). He created some of the most memorable gadget and puzzle caches in the Okanagan, forever looking for a way to out-wit us poor buggers that had to go looking for his caches! Ian also served as president of the BC Geocaching Association until his illness forced his retirement from the board.

In January 2019, Ian lost his battle with cancer. In his memory, MMCs (Mudrock1 Memory Caches) are being placed throughout the province. This cache is a tribute to you, Ian. Thank you for your friendship, your laughter, your boundless enthusiasm, and your unwavering helpfulness.
