The two sides of the USC Aiken Campus are separated by the Robert M. Bell Parkway. For a long time, there was a crosswalk, but most oncoming traffic did not stop when pedestrians waited to cross the parkway. Plans for a pedestrian bridge over the parkway were in the works for a long time. The main hurdle was funding, which was finally secured. Testing of the soil revealed that additional funds would be required to support the structure because the loose sand would not be sufficient. That created additional delays. After years of perseverance, the bridge was finally completed. It turns out that many students still drive across the street from the residence halls rather than make use of the bridge, but the bridge is widely used. The cache is well blended into the environment. You may park in any of the parking lots on either side of the parkway and then approach the bridge. The cache is closer to the Convocation Center, so parking there will result a shorter walk. Permission to hide this cache was provided by USC Aiken officials.
