This Wetherspoons pub is named after the place where babies are said to be found. It was built in 1984 on part of the site of Nottingham Women’s Hospital. In c2002, it was renamed Varsity, but now has its original name. The first patients entered the hospital in January 1930. The last baby was delivered in November 1981. Not long after, the main hospital building was converted into flats.
Sisters marton merekatz (Blackpool) and muscliffemouse (Bournemouth) are meeting up for a caching minibreak in Nottingham and think this would be a good opportunity to meet like-minded locals or visitors for a catch up whilst passing through.
The pub has step free access; Wi Fi; and children are welcomed. There is a wide menu of drinks, bar snacks, and main meals so join us for a few minutes or longer. We will no doubt be eating and may force a glass of wine or two!! There is a small car park at the rear and the co-ordinates given are for the entrance to this from the road.
Look out for two smilers in geocaching t-shirts!
