I grew up in Kenton and one of my very first memories is of visiting the supermarket which was then just around the corner from here. I used to sit and watch the ladies cut huge chunks of cheese with a cheesewire in a very long hall with floor tiles.. It then resited behind the station to a superstore in the 1980s.
My Mum used to work at the offices opposite here and there also used to be a large bookstore where we would go to get our weekly comics or even sometimes to the newsagents down the road, This was opposite a pet shop where we purchased food for our various pets over the years.
The pub on the bridge was originally the largest pub in Middlesex when it was rebuilt in 1933. Next door was a railway model shop which is now an estate agents run buy a boy I went to school with.
On the bridge itself there were some smaller shops of which I can only remember a haberdashers. I think the only remaining shop from my youth is the clock repair shop which was further back down the main road. Two banks have also since closed up one of which my Uncle worked in.
Hope you enjoyed my reminiscing and now its time to find the cache. Happy hunting.
