This Grotty escaped South Auckland and went bush and discovered the Waiwhiuwhiu kauri grove, a small clump of mature kauri trees that is remnant of the forest that was once here and decided it was a nice place to stay.
Part of the track to this cache is rated experienced tramper by DoC and includes some vertical climbing so hiking boots are recommended and this cache should not be attempted at night. To help avoid kauri dieback please keep to the track and clean your boots at the cleaning station located at the start of the track.
The cache was placed while hiking with "Team Dome" so the log is already signed by them but not for FTF and is located on the boardwalk that has been built through here. Tree cover may affect signal so please use the hint to help you find it. There is absolutely no need to leave the boardwalk to find the cache.
