Walk away when signing the log so you don't wake up the dog on the other side of the fence.
Year's ago, Ron Fisk dubbed one of my favorite hides, "Scott Holes". By tying a piece of copper or stainless steel wire to an appropriately sized container and putting it into an open pipe, one has my definition of a good P&G hide. Easy for a geocacher to find but muggles can walk by it every day and not see it. As long as people don't drop the container, these hides can last for years.
The advantage of a "Horizontal Scott Hole" is that people cannot drop them.
