A pleasant uphill path through the heather
Watson's Pike is the highpoint on Lilswood Moor at the top of Hexhamshire. There is really only one starting point unless you fancy a long walk from Allendale or want to bash through the heather. Rough co-ords of start are 54.53.000, 002.09.150, there is plenty of space on the bend over the cattle grid. There is a clear path almost to the top which meanders through the heather. The path runs 20 yards to the right of the track along the back of the wall and is clear all the way. Don't leave the path until you get to 54.52.342, 002.10.352 as this is by far the easiest way to the top even though it may not seem so at the time.
This is one of our favourite areas so don't tell anyone. There are good views on a clear day.
