Geocache Description:

Welcome to Patrill Hollow Preserve in Hardwick.  This preserve is owned and managed by the East Quabbin Land Trust.  The preserve has a loop trail traversing the perimeter of the property with access available from two different locations.  Parking and trailheads are specified under waypoints.  The closest entrance to these caches is located in a hay field on rt 32a/Gilbertville rd.  Close to the Hardwick common.  This is waypoint #1.  There is only a small sign for it so keep your eyes peeled.  The second waypoint is located on Patrill Hollow rd.  This is only a small pull off for one car along a stonewall, but there is a kiosk here with trail map & info.  Either entrance will get you to the caches.  You can access info and trail map at eqlt.org under Our Preserves, Patrill Hollow.

The cache itself is a bison tube hidden just off the trail. Please bring a pen since it's log only.  As you get close to gz notice the massive tree along the trail.  How is it still standing?  I have no idea.  We thought this tree would be a good hiding spot, but then figured everyone must check or stand inside just for the novelty of it and a cache wouldn't last long here.

Please be aware that hunting is allowed on EQLT preserves so dress appropriately during the season.  If you happen to come at the end of August check out the Hardwick Fair on the common.
