Geocache Description:


Uncommon Common Art, 2019


This is part of a series of 5 geocaches placed near outdoor art installations. The geocaches will only be available until mid-October. For other geocaches in the series, see the bookmark list.

Stop 5: "Crown" by Gerald Beaulieu

Artist's description of the installation: A large hollow tree trunk fashioned in the form of a jewelled crown. Made from hammered copper sealed with lacquer. The jewels are objects embedded in coloured resin.


Begin this two-stage multicache at the posted coordinates, which are also the coordinates for the art installation. You will need to examine the artwork and answer the questions below to get the coordinates to the final stage. Be sure to examine the art from all sides. The final is a short drive away from the art installation.


The final is at N 45' 04.XXX W 064' 20.YYY


  • Find the number of tubes in the crown. Call this number A

  • Find the number of yellow resins. Call this number B

  • Find the number of bolts holding crown down. Call this number C

  • XXX = 1315 - (A * B * C)

  • YYY = 749 - (A * B * C)


Checksum for XXX is 16.

Checksum for YYY is 17.


When you get to the final make sure to record the information needed for the bonus geocache
