Placed for the 2019 Superhero! West Bend Cache Ba$h. Waukesha County Sheriff's Department K-9 Officer Justice is a real superhero. On June 4, 2019 Justice was stabbed by an assailant during an hours long standoff with police in Waukesha county. Thankfully K-9 Officer Justice has recovered from his injuries and is back to work. He has been outfitted with a new ballistic vest that was donated to the department by national nonprofit Vest-A-Dog. In Wisconsin, if someone intentionally hurts a police dog they could face a Class I felony. If someone kills a police dog, a Class H felony which is punishable up to six years in prison. Both would face a fine of $10,000. Both classifications are considered the least punishable felonies in Wisconsin. Canine handlers want tougher penalties for offenders who injure or kill Wisconsin K-9 officers.
