"A still of Bayview Ave looking north from Eglinton as it crests over the hill to where Broadview Ave intersects, circa 1910."
This geocache symbolizes the defiance of our memories, and how creating and holding onto memories is so important in our lives. I tend to think of memory as a floaty concept, as in say a memory from childhood floating away and eventually washing up on the shores of your subconscious years later. (Hence the name, though also a reference to a certain musical something...let me know if you get it!) Anyways, I specifically placed this cache here because I have fond memories of the restaurant which stood right by the GZ a few short years ago, and have retained many more within the blocks surrounding this intersection. You're looking for a smaller container, though do keep in mind there's QUITE a busy secondary school nearby and the trail is rather busy with locals such as myself. Also, baseball games or nearby dog walkers may make this equally challenging,
As the Eglinton streetcar construction continues, more changes are coming throughout this area, and it'll be tough to watch some of these places change, like the planned redevelopment of the plaza on the north side. Cherishing these memories as locals lets people remember how transit projects change places and how we can learn to keep our cities growing for the better, but also how the collective experience shapes the socio-cultural landscape of cities and neighbourhoods.
