Introdução / Introduction:
P: Construído pelos Mouros no século 9 AD, este castelo está situado em dois picos da Serra de Sintra, e desde as suas muralhas podem ver-se magníficas vistas.
E: Constructed by the Moors in the 9th Century A.D., this castle is situated on two peaks of the Serra de Sintra, and from its walls there are magnificent views.
P: Circundado por muralhas e diversas torres, este castelo dos mouros for conquistado por Dom Afonso Henriques (1147). Foi submetido a diversas reparações, particularmente no período Romântico (cerca de 1860), quando o Rei Consorte D. Fernando o restaurou, florestando as áreas circundantes e deu ás antigas ruínas uma nova dignidade.
E: Surrounded by walls and several towers, this moorish castle was conquered by Dom Afonso Henriques (1147), It underwent various repairs, particularly in the Romantic period (about 1860), when King Consort Fernando restored it, afforested the surrounding areas and gave the ancient ruins new dignity.
A cache / The cache:
P: Esta cache está colocada fora do castelo, na floresta circundante. Por isso, não terás que pagar bilhete para a caçar.
E: This cache is located outside the castle, in the surrounding wood. So, you don’t have to pay a ticket to hunt this one.
A caçada / The Hunt:
P: Para caçar esta cache, começa no parque de estacionamento perto das bilheteiras em 38º 47.415N 9º 23.354W, entra pela porta e caminha cerca de 300 até á bifurcação onde podes virar á esquerda (para o castelo) ou á direita (para Sintra). Vira á direita, para baixo, para Sintra e aproxima-te do waypoint ENTER vira á esquerda e entra na floresta. Estás a cerca de 200 da cache. O terreno é difícil de andar e de obter um sinal GPS estável. Usa bússola se possível e siga para Noroeste. De qualquer maneira, no local da cache o sinal GPS é bom (obtive um sinal de 4 satélites e, algumas vezes, 3D durante pelo menos 10 minutos antes de me decidir pela colocação),
Terás que subir alguns rochedos, passar por debaixo de outros. Terás que usar os pés e, algumas vezes, as mãos. Não vás sozinho - uma "mãozinha" poderá ser muito útil - e usa calçado apropriado. De qualquer maneira não receies. Procurei este local com o meu filho (Filipe, 10 anos) e o meu sobrinho ( João, 8 anos) e eles adoraram andar a fazer de "Indiana jones".

E: To hunt the cache start in the parking near ticket office at 38º 47.415N 9º 23.354W enter the door and walk about 300m to a bifurcation where you can turn to the left (Castle) or to the right (Sintra). Turn right, down to Sintra and approach waypoint "ENTER", turn left and enter the wood. You’re about 200m from the cache. The terrain is dificult to walk and to get the GPS signal. Use a compass if possible and follow to Northwest. However, in the cache location the signal is good (I get 4 satellites all the time and 3D signal sometimes during at least 10 minutes before I decided).
You’ll have to climb some big rocks and pass below anothers and you’ll have to use your feets and, sometimes, your hands. Don’t go alone – a hand will be trully helpful – and use appropriated shoes. However don’t be affraid. I searched the place with my son (Filipe, 10) and my nephew (João, 9) and they enjoyed to play “Indiana Jones”.
