Welcome to Patrill Hollow Preserve in Hardwick Ma. Please check posted waypoints. Waypoint #1 provides parking and trailhead closest to cache location located on rt 32A, Gilbertville rd. This is a Hay field located just outside the center of Hardwick. Waypoint #2 provides another trailhead and parking , but it is further away from caches yet it has a kiosk with trail map located here. Both trailheads will bring you to caches. You can access a trail map at eqlt.org under Our Preserves, Patrill Hollow.
You are looking for a small lock and lock container. It includes a small amount of swag including an inactivated trackable tag for first to find. It's located near a good size erratic and a small stream with a stone footpath crossing it. The preserve encompasses a variety of landscape, from lowland forest, fern covered stream beds, Hemlock forest, vernal pool and hardwood uplands. The paths offer a good challenge for mountain bikes or a typical walk in the woods along a well marked trail.
Patrill Hollow is managed by the East Quabbin Land Trust. Hunting is permitted so wear your orange during the seasons. The Land Trust is a great organization which strives to protect open land yet realizes there is no point in doing so unless the public can enjoy it. Therefore they have very user friendly policies regarding their properties. I recommend visiting eqlt.org for more information.
