Geocache Description:

National Cycle Route 4 is a route of the National Cycle Network running all the way from London to Fishguard. The London to Reading section of the route starts at Greenwich. It then follows the River Thames to Putney Bridge, from here to Reading, the route follows the Thames Valley Cycle Route. The Reading to Bath section follows the Kennet and Avon Canal. Some sections use the canal towpath, while others are on low-traffic roads. The Bath to Bristol section of the route follows the Bristol & Bath Railway Path, a dedicated cycle path on a disused railway line. After Passing through Bristol City Centre, the route heads north into South Gloucestershire and over the Severn Bridge, passes through Chepstow and then south towards Newport, passing through Caldicot on the way. After Newport the route heads west to Caerphilly, then north towards Pontypridd, crossing the Taff Trail. It then heads west towards Port Talbot. Near Briton Ferry, it crosses the A48 bridge and then follows the Fabian Way into Swansea and passes through the Maritime Quarter. It then follows the seafront promenade along Swansea Bay to Blackpill, where it turns north up the Clyne Valley cycle track until it reaches Gowerton. In Gowerton, the trail follows public roads towards Lougher Bridge. Once over the bridge it continues along the Millenium Coastal Path to the south of Llanelli, then on towards it's end at Fishguard. The cache contains only a log. A pair of tweezers would be useful for removing the log and please be careful replacing the cache as not all the surfaces are metal which will hold the magnet securely. This cache forms part of a series called Holybrook Hounds in collaboration with our great geo buddies the loc8tors, all placed along a walk we frequently take with our pack of geohounds (lovingly referred to as the Beagle Boys and their Bitch) Once you’ve found this one you can branch off from the river onto the Kennet Island housing development, where there is a small mini-loop of urban caches.
