Geocache Description:

Our first cache named "Sky Liquid" was placed at the old water tower in Airdrie, Alberta. You've probably seen it as you drive past Airdrie on the Number 2 highway. We think these old relics are quite interesting and definitely give the towns of Alberta a distinctive look, so we plan on placing a few more at different locations and making "Sky Liquid" a series.

Didsbury's water tower is hard to miss, and is easily visible some distance away, even from outside the town, due to it sitting prominently on this hill. You can drive up to the water tower, but it is located directly within the Didsbury golf course, so we didn't want to place the cache directly beside the tower, as it would definitely be seasonal access, due to the gate near the entrance of the golf course. This is the reason that there is a huge tower mural of a golfer on the side of the structure. We decided to place the cache at this location as it provides a pretty good view of the tower on the hill (located to the SW), and should be available year round.

From the Didsbury website: "The Town of Didsbury's water source is through the Mountain View Regional Water Services Commission. The regional water treatment plant west of Innisfail services over 25,000 people in the communities of Innisfail, Bowden, Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs, and Crossfield."

Thanks so much to fellow Geocacher "Strider's Ride," who emailed us with information about the artist of this fantastic mural painting: Ruth Jepson. Check it out below! Thanks for the info Strider's Ride!
