Geocache Description:

NOTICE: Banff National Park rules forbid the placement of any trade items or trackable in the park caches. There is a possibility that some common trade items act as attractants for wildlife. Do not leave anything in the caches except the log book and pencils.” This Geocache is located in a wide open grass area easily accessible to the public. It is placed on the ground to the left corner of the tennis courts if you look at them from Spray Avenue. You will be able to see a wood cabin named the Outdoor Recreation Centre. There is public parking available for 4 hours between the hours of 8am and 9pm along the side of Spray Avenue. The Geocache its self is a small cylinder container placed inside of a medium sized fake log. The log is roughly L 30cm x W 15cm x D 8cm. Inside the container is a small piece of paper to record your name. Geocachers will be reminded this geocache is located in a National Park and no damage can be made to the natural surrounding when searching for this geocache. Nothing can be disturbed in this location other than the geocache itself. Educational Message: The Sisters of Saint Martha operated the original Mineral Springs Hospital on Spray Avenue in 1911. Today, this site houses several buildings with unique and different construction styles. There is a great view of Mount Rundle from this location. The structure of the hotel was built out of the stone from Mount Rundle after the original wooden structure of the hotel burnt down in 1926 and they rebuilt the hotel larger in 1928.
