NOTICE: Banff National Park rules forbid the placement of any trade items or trackable in the park caches. There is a possibility that some common trade items act as attractants for wildlife. Do not leave anything in the caches except the log book and pencils This geocache is located at the start of the popular Spray River Trail. It is placed on the ground next to the right side of the Spray Trail Sign. It is a short, easy walk from the island of the hotel and you should pass a wood cabin on the left of the road. You will see a great view of Mount Rundle on your left and Sulphur Mountain on your right. The Geocache its self is a micro cylinder container hidden inside a fake, realistic rock. It is roughly L 9cm x W 6cm x D 4cm. The Geocache contains only a small piece of paper to sign. Geocachers will be reminded this geocache is located in a National Park and no damage can be made to the natural surrounding when searching for this geocache. Nothing can be disturbed in this location other than the geocache itself. Educational Message: Sulphur Mountain was named in 1916 for the hot springs on its lower slopes. Workers who were building the Canadian Pacific Railway came across the hot springs which is now commonly known as the Cave and Basin, now a National Historic Site. People believed that the sulphur hot springs had healing qualities.
