The seventh in the (strangely) popular midnight gatherings on Coombe Hill.

Now in its seventh year, midnight munchies is an opportunity to do something a little different. At just before midnight we gather by torchlight at the war memorial on Coombe Hill, share cake and sausage rolls and caching stories, before all making our way back home again.
It also appears to be an opportunity for the caching community to find the biggest, most cumbersome travel bug to leave behind at the end for me to take home with me.
Ignore what it says at the top of the page regarding timings because Groundspeak didn't consider there were some people mad enough to host midnight events when they set up their new timings feature. The event will run from 11:45pm on Friday 23rd August to 12:15am on Saturday 24th August 2019. Bring some cake to share, or savouries if you prefer, and an empty stomach, because we usually end up with cake mountain.
Within the nearby vicinity of the event there's the award-winning Another Knight Cache, although the cache owner politely requests that this is completed in groups of no more than six people at a time due to the proximity of the route to the landowner's property. There's also the oldest cache in England, which can be done at night if you watch your footing and the popular Chiltern Scarp EarthCache, which can easily be completed at night.
There's uneven terrain on route to the monument, so stout footwear and a torch for every person are essential. It's also outdoors and there's nowhere to shelter if it rains so keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately. Remember that there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. Also keep in mind that the temperature drops during the night so a blanket to sit under would be a good idea, particularly for smaller cachers.
Above all bring lots of cake and nibbles!
