While gone today, this site marked some historic intersecting lines here. The most notable would be the junction of the historic Durham & Southern Railway with the old Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Less noticeable would be where W. Vance Street crossed the tracks and intersected with N. Railroad Road on the east side of the tracks before being blocked at this point.
Important: Stay off the tracks. For your own personal safety, approach GZ from the west. There is no need to go on the tracks nor go beyond this barrier any further toward the tracks. If you can get a photo of you and your group with a train passing this location in the background, that would be great for you to share.
