This cache was placed at a T-junction on the R56 as you enter the little Eastern Karoo town of Steynsburg, situated deep in the sheep farming territory and nestled in a ring of ridges and koppies
This location has become quite a familiar way point for me and my little family. Having moved to Port Elizabeth in 2016, this route marker brought home the finality of leaving Johannesburg behind as it was the first to proudly display "Port Elizabeth". In the same vein this is also the junction we use when we turn off towards Bethulie to cross into the Free State and Gauteng to visit our loved ones. Recently I have entered into a special relationship with someone from Aliwal North and whenever we visit each other, we pass this very same point. In a peculiar kind of way my life seems to split in three at this very intersection: parents, partner and home.
Hope fellow cachers enjoy their journey from here. Travel safely!
