This is the original town site of Haviland. The first church building built in Haviland was the sod church built in 1885 which served both as a church and as a school. Church services were held in the old sod church until August 1893. It stood just east of the paved road on the north side the road. There are a few pictures of the church in the gallery.
They say just west of here on the south side was a store. Most people lived underground in dugouts. Before the sod church was built school was held in a 10 by 14 foot dugout. There were few trees in the country to build houses.
This is a quick grab and go. Small swag. You won't need to go in the cemetery. If there mowing you might be stealthy because of being muggled.
