For Connery's final scene to be filmed - his last in an official EON was the crematorium sequence. Interesting, it was shot on Friday 13th, 1971.
Producers Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli cast Lana Wood as Plenty O'Toole after seeing her in Playboy Magazine. Her voice was dubbed in the movie. Lana is standing on a box for some of her scenes with Sean Connery because even in high heels, she was too small to fit into the video frame with him.
Willard Whyte was based on Howard Hughes. Whyte owned the Whyte House in this movie, Howard Hughes owned a real life Las Vegas Hotel, the Desert Inn.
