Geocache Description:

This cache is set as a point on a trail maintained by the fifth graders of Park City Schools.  In the spring of 2018, the students researched animals located in Stillwater County, either at its northern area, which is primarily grassland or farmland, or at its southern extension, which is mountainous coniferous terrain with some alpine meadows.

A small-footed Myotis is a small bat.  You can tell it from other myotis by its small size.  It also has brownish fur, blackish ears, and a black muzzle.  It is also known as a small verperhiliooid (a bat of a large family.  It s scientific name is Myotis ciliolabrum. The SWFM fits into Stillwater County just like any other bat.  It eats the insects. It likes the cold weather. Because of the disturbances we make they don’t like us.  When we explore eaves they don’t like it. They fly above our heads to get us out--such as when you're camping and they try to land in our hair.  It’s only because they don’t like the light.  They're nocturnal so when there's a big light source, they try to put it out.
