Geocache Description:

Welcome to Toronto's Union Station!

Toronto's third and current Union Station was constructed between 1914 and 1920 and officially opened it to the public on August 6, 1927

Union Stations central position in Canada's busiest inter-city rail service area, "The Corridor", as well as being the central hub of GO Transit's commuter rail service, makes Union Station Canada's busiest transportation facility and second-busiest in North America, serving over 250,000 passengers a day. More than half of all Canadian inter-city passengers and 91% of Toronto commuter train passengers travel through Union Station.

Via Rail and Amtrak provide inter-city train services while GO Transit operates regional rail services. The station is also connected to the subway and streetcar system of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) at its adjacent namesake subway station. GO Transit's Union Station Bus Terminal, across Bay Street from the station building, is connected by the train shed. The Union Pearson Express, the train service to Toronto Pearson International Airport, platform is a short walk west of the main station building, accessible by the SkyWalk and you can also access a major part of the Downtown Core via the PATH System.

For years I have utilized Union Station to access Geocaches on all compass points and all weather and decided this would be a great choice for a Virtual.

To claim your Virtual Reward at Union Station please email me the answers to the following questions. I used a mix of interesting items to show you this beautiful architectural building, some of its hidden history and to reflect on what Stations we have lost from the National Dream.

1. How many cities are listed around the Great Hall's perimeter below the cornice.

2. How many windows are above the cornice on either the North or South side(windows only, don't count the panes).

Now the tricky one, from the Posted Co-ords enter the building(West end of Great Hall), just to your right is the passage to the Skywalk and VIA Business Lounge. On the pillar to your left is a large plaque, give it a read and reflect.(see photo hint)

3. What are the names of the hero's and what is their train number(will accept the 2 or 4 digit number).

4. Finally take a picture of either yourself (no need to show your face), your GPS, Geomascot or whatever in front of the Big Clock/Departure/Arrivals Board and Post it in your log.
