Geocache Description:

The Rose (formerly known as Rose Theatre Brampton) is a cultural arts center and one of the anchors of Brampton's Garden Square. Construction on the underground parking for the theater began in 1994, displacing the farmer's market (which now operates on seasonal Saturdays on a closed Main Street). The land above the garage was un-used for several years until in 2002 the Brampton city council committed to building a theatre. Opened in 2006 as "Brampton Rose Theatre", it includes a main performance hall seating 800 and a multi-purpose hall that seats up to 160. Brampton residents referred to the theatre as "The Rose", and eventually this became the official name of the theatre.

Over the years The Rose has played host to acts and productions of all kinds. Headliners have included Howie Mandel, a national tour of The Wizard of Oz, and Brampton's own Rose Theatre Summer Series. The venue, however, has also had its challenges. In 2011 the theatre ran on generators while electrical issues were solved; some performances ran without heat or elevators, and with much of the parking garage shut down as it was deemed too dark.

LOGGING THIS CACHE

In order to claim a find at this Virtual Reward cache you will have to complete either OPTION 1 or OPTION 2 (below). If you choose the first option, please add your picture(s) to your log. If using option 2, go ahead and log your find then send the answers.

Any logs not meeting the requirements (OPTION 1 or OPTION 2) may be deleted.

OPTION 1 - GRAB A PIC

At one of the provided waypoints in downtown Brampton, use the associated webcam link to take a photo of you or something uniquely identifiable (such as a sign with your name on it, your GPS, etc.). You do not have to appear in the photo, but something that identifies you as having visited the location must. Add this photo to your log; for group photos, each cacher claiming a find must load the photo and indicate where they (or their identifiable proxy) is in the picture. You may be able to use your smart phone to take a screen shot, or you may opt to have a friend use their computer to grab the pic for you.

Option 2 - Send the Answer

If public selfies aren't your thing, there is an alternate way to log this Virtual Reward cache. At the posted coordinates you will find the Lorna Bissell Fountain. Around the concrete base of the fountain are 4 etched words (2 ending in "N" and 2 ending in "Y"). Send a Geocaching message to the owner of this cache with these 4 words.

Inspiration for this Virtual Cache

When I received notice of this Virtual Reward, I told my friend and fellow geocacher Kathy "K-Pom" Pomeroy how excited I was to be a recipient. We chatted over several weeks about how I could set up this cache. At one point, Kathy pointed out to me links for the downtown Brampton webcams and we chatted about how that could be incorporated into the cache. Sadly, Kathy passed away in April 2020. It is with fond memories of my friend that I prepared this cache listing.
