Geocache Description:

The John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park features artwork by 24 of the world’s most celebrated artists. The 4.4 acre park, located within a major crossroads, creates a pedestrian-friendly entryway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States. The Pappajohns have contributed 30 works for the park.

In order to log this cache, you must explore the park to answer the following questions and message the owners with your answers. Logs with answers posted will be deleted as well as found logs with no email/message from the finder.

1. At the location of the coordinates, you will find the park sign with the rules of the park. What chapter of the municipal code are the rules detailed?

2. Head east to the Post Balzac sculpture by Judith Shea. What are the letters on the base of the sculpture?

3. Continue east and south to find the 2 Moonrise.east sculptures. On the eastern sculpture, how many teeth do you count?

4. Continue south and west to find the Panoramic awareness pavilion. How many colored panels make up the pavilion?

5. Go west to the Nomade sculpture. What is the first letter on the bottom row, on the west side of the sculpture?

6. As you continue west and head back north, find the Pumpkin sculpture. Who is the artist and what year were they born?

We hope that you enjoyed your walk through the park. Pictures are encouraged, but not required, as long as they do not show the answers to the questions. Please remember to not touch the sculptures. Parking is metered parking all around the park 9AM - 9PM Monday - Saturday.
