Takoma Park is a city in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a suburb of Washington, and part of the Washington metropolitan area. Founded in 1883 and incorporated in 1890, Takoma Park, informally called "Azalea City", is a Tree City USA and a nuclear-free zone.
Takoma Park was founded by Benjamin Franklin Gilbert in 1883. It was one of the first planned Victorian commuter suburbs, centered on the B&O railroad station in Takoma, D.C., and bore aspects of a spa and trolley park.
Takoma was originally the name of Mount Rainier, 'snow-covered mountain'. In response to a wish of Gilbert, the name Takoma was chosen in 1883 by DC resident Ida Summy, who believed it to mean 'high up' or 'near heaven'. The city of Tacoma in Washington State is also named after Mount Takhoma (Mount Rainier).

Are you up for the CALL? This might be a quick virtual unless you want to take your time and enjoy your calling. At the starting location you will be looking for a now memorialized local celebrity (next to the clock). Pay very close attention to who/what this celebrity is. Don't get hung up at the first spot after all you won't be doing any calling there. Now you have what you need to complete the call. Proceed to the final location using the additional way point provided. Just in case you are way point challenged the coordinates are N 38° 59.332 W 077° 00.075. Once you get to that location you will press numbers to hear a recording of the famous local.
In order to receive credit for completing this virtual cache you will need to do the following:
- At the final location use the device you find to discover the number that link the two locations together. Email or message us that number.
- Post a picture at the FINAL LOCATION of yourself or if you don't want to be in the picture make sure the picture has your caching name in it.
